Thanks for joining me! I'm Beth Meltzer of Epic Families and my passion is equipping parents and inspiring them to inspire their children so that you can parent peacefully and have children who listen and behave better more of the time.

Today I want to share with you one key tip that will improve almost any area of your life - from parenting, from your interpersonal relationships with others, and even the way that you feel about yourself.

The main premise of this is happiness.

Happiness is an inside job and that can affect everything else that you do. Now, you might be thinking, wait a minute, Beth, why are you talking about my happiness? I want to have kids who behave. I want my kids to listen. The object of the game is not for me to be happy, but I want to give you an example so that you can get a visual here.

If you ever saw the movie Elf, at the very end of that, Santa Claus cannot get his sleigh off the ground because people are not thinking enough good thoughts and there is not enough of a good happiness vibration in the air, so his sleigh meter, I don't remember what it was called, does not work, and therefore his sled cannot lift up off the ground.

In the same way, we all have a happy parenting meter or a happy mom meter and ideally we want that meter to be at least above the median spot and positive thoughts are what can get it there and negative thoughts will pull it down. Our happy mum meters are fueled by our thoughts and we have positive thoughts and we have negative thoughts. The more we focus on the negative thoughts, the more we will feel fear, the more we will feel insecure about our abilities to parent and the more honestly, our kids will pick up on that and we will attract more bad situations and we will notice flaws in everything around us and that causes fear monsters to develop in our mind (I call them mental monsters).

On the flip side, when we think happier thoughts and we search for positive things that our kids are doing. One thing I always tell my clients is to catch yourself doing something good and catch your kids doing something good and when you do that, you will be amazed at how suddenly you notice more positive things around you and you attract more positivity into your life and your kids behave better. They listen better and you are happier and you feel like you're a better mom. That's something I want to challenge you to try this week for just a couple of days and then you'll see that it really does matter.

When you get a negative thought that's coming into your mind, replace it. Catch yourself and replace it with a positive thought and when you look at your child, even if they've got peanut butter smeared all over their face and the table, think of something cute about them. (Sometimes that is cute, except when they're smearing it all over you!) Think of something positive about them. Focus on their good qualities, not on their flaws, and pretty soon when you do that, I can promise you that your happy mom meter will ding, ding, ding, go all the way to the high end and then your positive parenting can take off just like Santa's slay could take off in the movie Elf when there were enough positive thoughts in the air.

Now, if you think that you might need more advice and one on one attention, you've tried many other cookie cutter programs, read a bunch of books because you want to parent peacefully and you don't want to yell and you want your kids to listen and behave better, but at the end of the day, you feel still feel stuck. I might be able to help you. I help lots of moms and I have for more than 10 years, probably now going on just about 15 years I've helped loads of moms get unstuck, so if that's something that you might be interested in, I have my Epic Mom Mentorship and I would be happy to discuss that with you.

I offer a free chemistry call to see if we're compatible and I will put a link for that below, but for now, I do want you to remember that happiness is an inside job and by focusing on being happy yourself, the ripple effect will spread out throughout your family and to the way that your children behave and listen. Try it and see. Have a great day and thank you so much for listening. I'll talk to you soon.
